This series is a direct reference to a conscious identification with a northern tradition which has coloured all my works since 2019. Northern painting has been primarily value-oriented, not only due to the use of light to model form such as in Rembrandts work but to the more brittle tertiary spectrum of colour found in northerly countries, of which Canada is one.
These works are limited to a 12 × 16″ format and are done in oil on canvas or panel.
