One of the fine things about art is its freedom. As an artist I am constantly working toward realizing new creative discoveries, and as is the path with artists who search for truth in expression, art must reflect its time, place and truth to experience.

This painting is a somewhat adventurous exploration of transvestism. I think that there had to be an element of courage on both sides of the easel in order to come to realize this in the content of the picture. We had spent a lot of time working toward a portrait using portraits in oil on paper, charcoal drawings and small oil studies. It had seemed to me that there was a depth of emotion (truth) I was not reaching, which is the area within which art operates.
